McGergor, Iowa Re-enactment

We noticed this cowboy strolling down the street with his lady following at an appropriately demure distance. Then shortly after that we saw a gent with some six-shooters strapped to his waist wave howdy to some passers-by.
McGergor, Iowa Shootout
And still later in front of the "Bank of McGregor Landing" we saw a little flirtatious exchange between another cowboy and a "lady." Seemed like we stepped back in time 150 years?

McGergor, Iowa ShootoutWe subsequently discovered a "drama" was unfolding that by later that afternoon would culminate in a "shoot-out" in front of "Uncle Sam's Saloon" (background right). This re-enactment occurs on the last Saturday of the month from June through October. Great fun at Olde Tyme McGregor Landing. Unfortunately we had to head home for a wedding and missed the action!

For more "Old Tyme" fun consider attending the annual Prairie Villa Rendezvous across the river in Prairie Du Chien, WI.
