Mississippi Palisades State Park - Great River Road

Located three miles north of Savanna, Illinois the Palisades Park offers some terrific scenic vistas overlooking the river, several fine hiking trails, attractive picnic grounds, and a well maintained full service campground.
In total there are 241 campsites, 112 have electric utilities. There are 3 shower/flush toilet facilities and 3 toilet buildings strategically located throughout the camping area. Also in the park are 9 hiking trails, totaling 15 miles, of varying degrees of difficulty. 5 scenic lookouts overlook the Mississippi River Valley, four of which are reachable by a short walk. The Oak Point overlook is handicap friendly.
Miller's Landing, on the west side of highway 84, has a boat launch and good access for canoeists interested in exploring the Mississippi backwaters. In nearby Savanna you'll find the Great River Bike trail (running to Fulton and the Quad Cities) and the gateway to the Savanna District of the Upper Mississippi National Wildlife and Fish Refuge. Savanna is also a popular stop over for "Iron Horse" rallies.
