Scenes from the AQS - Paducah Annual Quilt Show & Contest . . .

From the "Rhapsody Quilts" Lecture by Ricky Tims
In
2007 Paducah Quilt Show of the American Quilter Society had four days
of beautiful weather and brought approximately 40,000 people to town
for the show. A local TV station reported the AQS show brings 18
million dollars to the Paducah regional economy. Below are some pics from that show. In later shows we had a mix of good and not so good weather, but always a good time [see my blogs for pics from the 2010 AQS Quilt show and 2011 Paducah Quilt Show].
Over (1500) fifteen hundred quilts were entered in 16 categories!

< < < Quilts, quilts and more quilts, including the winners, which are displayed in a separate area (see below).

|
Over 300 hundred quilting supply vendors are sprinkled in several areas throughout the convention center. |
< < < Vendor booths and more vendor booths.

< < < Jo took one of the 135 quilting classes offered during the quilt show and convention: Introduction to Machine Quilting, with Phillipa Naylor.

The Paducah Rotary sponsors a Quilt Show during the same days of the big AQS show. It is located only a few miles west of the Expo Center that hosts the "Big Show." In 2009 the main exhibits were Antique Quilts (go here to see some of them) from quilt collections of curators Bobbie Aug and Gerald Roy. |
